Do you use any oils, Robyn? Olive, coconut, sesame, etc?

Oh. Sorry. You didn’t mean EO’s. So I minimize all oils in the diet. Including olive.

I eat out once a week and avoid fried foods 99% and it should be 100%.

I know Dr Gundry is out there doing ads drinking a shot of olive oil and it’s ludicrous.

Oils are a refined fat and while I don’t 100% avoid them (John uses a tiny amount of EVOO on our air fried potato and sweet potato wedges), oils damage the endothelial lining in the cardiovascular system.

I don’t even use oils in salad dressings if I make them from scratch. I shared a recipe recently that used walnuts and no oil and it’s fantastic.

And the Mediterranean diet isn’t healthy because they use olive oil. That data is pretty skewed and manipulated and some Mediterranean diets don’t have good outcomes … but it’s the legumes and vegetables and plant based at the root of why some Mediterranean cultures have much better health it appears.

Oh, wow..... yes, I was talking about oils...not EOs..... so, my ancestors are from the Med. area and both my parents side lived/are living to almost 100...no cancers, heart disease, strokes, etc.... lots of olive oil, for sure...... funny, I have never read info to the contrary when it comes to the Med. diet..... do you have links I can read...... I am now curious.....

In the garden? No. I tried one with pests and it didn’t work. Can’t remember which one. Which should I try? We’ve tried a lot of things.

Mutant carrots? No. Stones/rocks/pebbles in the soil? Almost assuredly yes. When that carrot taproot encounters an immovable object, it does not simply turn the corner--it divides its attention around that stone. One root becomes two, two roots become four.....

I hear you on the indoor garden growing Robin. I would have to put up an electric fence to grow anything outdoors and hope for the best. I've got rats, squirrels, buzzards, snakes, rabbits and bugs to deal with if I had a garden. A greenhouse would probably be a better bet for me too.

We have a great beet crop this year too! All the nice cool weather and rain this spring here in Central Texas. Also for those in cold climates we use the Wall Of Water Igloos on our tomatoes and peppers to get them in early in February for longer season because for us here it gets SO HOT very soon! We have used the same ones for 5 years. We clean them out and store after every use so they last! They would work well for cold climates! Well worth their weight in gold!

We just harvested carrots from our garden! I didn't thin them out so they are small yellow ones and so so so tasty!!! I'm already harvesting greens too from my new Farmstand Nook inside after a little over 2 weeks growth! This is my first attempt at hydroponic growing inside! I'm experimenting with this grow system that has 20 seedlings first and then we will get a larger growing system for outside. We have been gardening 40 years and have 8 raised beds and numerous container gardens here on our neighborhood Homestead. Wish we could have chickens here! Chickens love all the Veggie scraps! I'm on the Exit and Build Land Summit in Bastrop Tx zoom now! Good stuff!

I’m in Minnesota and we had a high of 60 degrees today. It’s funny how we all have our issues no matter where we live ☺️

The best solution for potato bugs of any kind is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle on the whole plant liberally and reapply in a few days if you see more bugs or it has rained. I had bad luck with carrots most of the time so I gave up and buy them. Green and wax beans grow prolifically so we end up with a lot of beans. Which is fine with me because I love fresh tasting frozen beans in the winter.

Along with having a garden for food, I garden for peace of mind and to keep sane in this mixed- up world we’re living in right now.
