I flew all over North America, for 6 years, early in the saga of GreenSmoothieGirl.com, telling my story in 450 cities, of how I regained my health after a pharma injury, and making green smoothies for audiences as big as 600.
I did not often talk about how my health capsized, with two young children, while a graduate student working in a hospital that required the flu jab. My second-ever blog post was about why I stopped vaccinating my children.
Back then, you weren’t nearly so often crucified in the larger culture and called names. In fact, the Phil Donahue show hosted a number of celebrities like Lisa Bonet and Jenny McCarthy whose children were vax-injured, and pediatricians and other doctors speaking up about the corruption and false injuries of the vaccine industry.
The four years I spent mostly in bed gave me the impetus and time to study, how does the human body detoxify and repair itself? I studied the work of the great detoxification doctors, such as Dr. Bernard Jensen, who helped eliminate catarrhal mucoid plaque from gastrointestinal tracts, and published hundreds of photos of rubbery, hardened, years-old material that his detoxers eliminated.

And Dr. Ann Wigmore, who had cancer in her 50’s, detoxed herself, discovered the power of living, sprouted foods, and wheat grass juice, and lived to her 80’s when she died in a fire.
And Dr. Richard Anderson who stomped around in forests with a Native American friend, studying the herbs that God put on Earth to heal us, and experimenting, ultimately writing the two-volume Cleanse and Purify Thyself book series.
And Dr. Max Gerson, who healed himself of years of chronic migraines, and went on to flee Nazi Germany for the U.S., where he helped thousands of cancer patients get well, with juicing and other protocols.
And the work of Andreas Moritz, who developed a liver flush protocol that has helped thousands of people dilate the ducts in the gallbladder, liver, and kidneys, and flush them, of crystalline structures and sludgy bile that are the reason over a million Americans every year have their gallbladders removed. Those without a gallbladder have an even heavier burden on the liver.
I incorporated the “best practices” of these and other “greats” in the field of human detoxification, to get myself well. The things I did, to get well, aren’t things that most people in excellent health, would usually be willing to do. But when I got out of bed, I never got back in bed–except to sleep at night!
I can’t overstate what a blessing this has been. Someone once said, “A man with his health has many dreams. A man without his health has just one.”
Being able to do a 450-city speaking tour, in my 40’s, was one of the great miracles of my restored health, to “pay it forward”–that, and having the health and stamina able to publish 16 books about health and wellness in the last 15 years.
Many years after I got well, and after helping many people start drinking a quart a day of green smoothie (which is why my body no longer forms the catarrhal mucoid plaque that I eliminated in my first cleanse, just as Dr. Jensen had documented in hundreds of people), I put all the best practices in human detoxification together, in a program that now 18,000 people have completed.
I believe that with the help of the internet, my team and I have been able to detoxify more people than anyone in history.
Some of our detoxers have recently been injured by the COVID injections. Others have had many other types of toxic exposures–from chemotherapy, to Agent Orange in the Gulf War, to common suburban Roundup exposure, or the chemicals that farmers, painters, and hairdressers commonly encounter.
With over 80,000 chemicals now in our water, air, food, cleaning and other products, and personal-care products, toxic exposures are the rule, rather than the exception.
And while we make no claims about results for any specific health disorder, we are not practicing medicine, I feel strongly that to get well, two things must be done, these absolutely cannot be neglected, for a life of vibrant physical and emotional health:
1. A shift to a whole-foods, mostly plant-based diet, and
2. Detoxification, preferably twice a year.
(A close #3 would be to develop the ability to forgive and “let go,” of resentments and wrongs we all suffer throughout our lives.)
We have received nearly 1,000 written testimonials of the profound health improvements of those who complete our 26-day detox. Many of our detoxers join us once or twice a year, some of them even more often. We did not get ourselves in the health situation we are in, in 26 days, and it may not be fair to expect all health issues to resolve in 26 days, either. So, once you have completed the program once, it becomes a powerful tool for your health toolbox, for life–it’s vastly easier the second time!
The people we are supporting in their detoxification protocols today, are far more toxic than even those we began helping 10 years ago.
In fact, our program is a slower and less rigorous program than the one I undertook, to get myself well, 28 years ago. When GreenSmoothieGirl was new, I’d sent people to that protocol, and frankly, most of them were too ill to finish it. A slower but still rigorous process was needed.
I remember very well being so sick that I was terrified of doing a rigorous detox. I was afraid I would be in great pain and be totally disabled by “Herx” reactions. In the first year of the program, we did find that 18% had Herx reactions like a headache for a couple of days, or other symptoms, as toxins flood out of the body.
Imagine my great surprise, then, during my first detox, to find that I could suddenly go back to the gym, or run 5 miles, and even start playing a competitive sport, after spending 4 years mostly bedridden.
Most functional medicine doctors currently practice almost entirely by selling you a Big Bag of Hopium, to quote my health-coach friend Carmen Hunter. You may leave their office $1500 poorer, with a bag of supplements, but supplements by their very definition are … well, supplemental.
Where my team and I focus is on helping people DO THE WORK of cleaning out their backed-up, struggling organs of elimination. From the plastics, volatile organic compounds, energetic damage to cells and DNA, chemotherapy agents and antibiotics and many pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, herbicides and pesticides, and other classes of toxins.
I feel strongly that to get well, one must be willing to “do the work” of getting well. No supplement can effectively flush the liver and gallbladder. Supplements and IV’s and treatments may assist, but a highly oxygenated, alkaline, entirely plant-based diet is part of the protocol we support people in accomplishing.
There are a number of easy, free or inexpensive, additional protocols, that we teach and support in, to help avoid the symptoms of “Herxheimer reactions,” also called “cleansing crises” where, as toxins flood out through the various elimination channels, can cause some suffering. (In fact, we require that everyone who drinks coffee abstain for 5 days before beginning the program–we’ve seen a dramatic decrease in Herxing reactions that are actually just coffee withdrawal headaches!)
I am deeply indebted to these detoxification doctors whose work taught me about how the body works, with all the systems of elimination organs connected, to optimize, in the correct order, the focus on the GI tract, then the kidneys, and then the liver and gallbladder.
From them and others such as Doc Wheelwright and Dr. Jack Tips, I learned so much about how to bring the body into balance, where we don’t just see symptoms disappear, but we also see people increase in energy and creativity and love.
No liver and gallbladder flush should be attempted until following the dietary protocol strictly, where all dehydrating and constrictive foods and drinks are eliminated (no coffee/stimulants, alcohol, meat or dairy or refined foods), and everything you consume assists in dilating the thousands of ducts in those organs, to be ready for a very productive “flush” at the end, followed by several days of transitioning back to your daily diet.
We have a private Facebook page where our detoxers often post photos of parasites and nests of parasite eggs; gallstones and crystalline precursor stones from the liver and kidneys; and catarrhal mucoid plaque, while they do the program! (We don’t let them post these photos in the big general support page for detoxers, since not everyone wants to see that.)
I would not have believed a 12” parasite could live in my body, nor that years of rubbery catarrh had built up in my gastrointestinal tract, had I not seen them eliminated from my body in the process. That made a believer out of me even more than reading 100 books did, during those four years I spent in bed, wanting to detox but couldn’t until I had more strength, plus I was a breastfeeding mother during those early years of research. (We advise against pregnant and breastfeeding mothers undertaking the program, as toxins flood out through all the fluids in the body.)
The dietary protocol also stimulates healthy bile flow, and some of the strategies we use in the program are used all over the world in clinics who also model their work on the scientific discoveries of the doctors I mentioned above, almost none of whom are still living, but whose work has been all but forgotten, as even functional medicine moves towards the “pill for every ill” model of healthcare that most patients have been conditioned to want.
Many people spend $10,000 or $20,000 doing the work of detoxifying in a clinic, that we support people in doing inexpensively at home. We even have a Level I for beginners, and a Level II for those who want to cleanse at deeper levels, usually after they conquer their first cleanse program, where a beginner can often be apprehensive.
Many doctors and influencers develop quickie detox programs and food-elimination programs that I’m sure help somewhat, just by eliminating toxic and dehydrating foods for some defined time period. But I am dismayed to see many detox programs that clearly misunderstand what is required, to optimize safe elimination of toxins while minimizing recirculation, and putting out the “fire” of inflammation that is at the root of all chronic illness.
I’ve seen detox programs where you eat meat; I’ve seen detox programs where you chase a glass of olive oil with a Coca Cola; I’ve seen detox programs that claim to achieve miracles in three days; and I’ve seen detox programs that are nothing but green smoothies, among many other ideas that do not leverage the art and science of effectively detoxifying the body, as the doctors I’ve mentioned above, and many others, spent decades of their lives learning and practicing in.
I would love for taking a bunch of pills to be able to do the work that I did, and still do biannually with my husband, my children have participated as well, to stay healthy and reduce our “toxic load” to be able to thrive in this toxic world.
I believe ozone therapy, professional colonics, infrared sauna sessions, and supplements that boost glutathione in the body and other mechanisms can optimize your innate elimination abilities. These can be good adjuncts, especially used at the right times in the process.
But there is no substitute for “doing the work.” Our detoxers tend to be people who are dealing with significant health challenges. It is a rare person who does it just to optimize and prevent. We welcome all, however, and encourage you to think of tending to your body with the love and care you deserve, twice a year. A profound new respect and love for our own bodies is a very common result of undergoing the 26-day process.
(At the end of the detox, we help you toward adopting a whole-foods diet, that is more sustainable and less rigorous than the detox, where you will love your food just as much as whatever diet you eat now. By returning to a much healthier diet, after I first detoxed 28 years ago, I stayed out of crisis and in homeostasis. The only doctor I have visited since my 22-year old last child was born, was the one who treated my broken bones in a 4-wheeler accident, plus I get a full hormone panel every couple of years.)

Even the holistic-oriented doctors and practitioners out there don’t have the time or bandwidth to serve people in doing this kind of work, so they tend to mostly administer nutrient IV’s or do other procedures, and they sell supplements, primarily because this is what keeps their staff paid and the lights on. Many practitioners, in fact, send their patients to our program, and do our detox, themselves.

I had read about the emotional release of negative emotions, the instantaneous increased ability to forgive and let go of resentments, in the extensive work of Dr. Richard Anderson. I had read in the apocryphal texts of the Apostle John, about ancient practices which are also found in our program, wherein methods of purifying the body are as old as human beings are.
My biggest conclusion from getting myself well, and helping 18,000 others do so, is that the human body is absolutely miraculous. Watching people detoxify and recover their health affirms my faith in our divine creation.
Your body wants to be healthy. Health is the natural state your body was meant for. People can and do get well after being ill, even after serious challenges and toxic exposures. All the body needs, to right itself, are the right conditions and nutrients.

I know several people that could benefit from your knowledge and experience Robyn. Sadly, I can't convince those folks to even take Vitamin C and D. I know one person who does nothing that I know about to preserve or improve her health. After she suffers or get sick. Then she'll go to the doctor and get more meds. And that's the only way I know that she handles any health issue or challenge. This is one of those individuals I consider a glutton for punishment. I'm acquainted with several. They remind me of rats who will keep feeding out the trays until it takes them out.
I will never forget what I heard Dr. Cynthia Foster say last year on a health summit I watched. I'll paraphrase since I don't want to misquote her. Her statement went something like this: When you eliminate the toxins and the parasites. Lots of other health issues will disappear. I remembered that from reading your detailed account about body toxicity today.
Interesting statement you made on functional medicine practitioners. I assumed that they all would address detox and parasite cleansing. I know their treatments ain't cheap from my research. Neither are they reimbursed from every healthcare plan for every treatment. I had been referring people to ifm.org to look for a functional medical doctor.
No harm done since I doubt those folks bothered to look for that type of doctor. With your healthcare training, knowledge and past, personal health crisis experiences. I will be referring people who will listen to your site. And everywhere else on the net that shows you are the real deal. There is no way anyone can read your testimony about your past health issues and totally ignore them if they want to heal and live.
I did buy your detox book last year. I bought it to learn more about natural medicine. I've been blessed in my health once I got off the childhood vaccinations. I've had a few aches and pains here and there through the years. I saw enough suffering and lost enough family members by the age of 35 to convince me to stay away from Big Pharma. Plant based medicine is the way to go if you want to heal and live. Conventional medicine has mostly been a last resort for me my entire adult life.
